I was playing the DM PB Stranded map.. and had a Vamp Wand +7
I tried to toss it so that another player could gold it..
And it just DISAPPEARED?!
It did not even go on the ground. Or throw even an inch. It just disappeared. Flat out. Gone.
Is this SUPPOSED to happen for some reason?
Wand? WTF?

Um wrong. You can toss wands, what happened most likely is packet loss or lag spike.utMobster wrote:You can't toss wand's. Once you get it you have to keep it for your self.
If you lost your cd and have the old drive and have not reinstalled UT2004 or reformatted the drive, you can find your old cd key in the registry here ...

and not to forget:
tossing weps (and pus) when you stand tooo close to a player,
and you sometimes have the "throw-through-player-effect", means,
tossed things "appear" behind players.
if that also happend when you both stand too close
to a wall and you toss something in direction to that wall, these things
are often gone!
more often it happens in laggy situations/waves, so, in maps in which
"lag" is allways there, it sometimes can happen in first waves too.
otherwise you will recognice that effect only in later waves.
if you notice that weps and/or pu´s get lost often after tossing it allways in
later waves, i recommend not to try to toss or jugg weps after wave...15-16-17...
if you joined late and someone toss you a loaded wop to jugg it and
you didnt get or you toss it back and it disapears be sure someone will be pissed!
"pb-shrine" is the best example for a special kind of weapon and pu-loss.
often players hide under the stairs, you have to crouch/duck to go in
these places...
when you try to toss weps or pus under that stairs to other players->
many of these things will disapear, try it...
other "special" and odd weaponlosses i noticed sometimes, when you toss
things into or within or out of the "teamshield" (that red/blue "web"-ball..or
h/e you want describe it...)
or inside bunker....
some map-"parts" also love to "eat" your wep. (just dont remember a
good example) lets say you want have the superspeed-effect, but you
switched to a slowmotion wep which disables superspeed effect sometimes
when you switch back to the wep with the "ss"-pu in it. you can try switch
to other weps and back or you toss the wep and repick it to make "ss"
work again.
it sometimes happend to me, when i stay at a "normal even ground"
(way/street/floor) and toss wep and repick it all work fine. but when i did
that when on these ground are rocks, for example, and i stand on that
rocks and i look down, toss it and dang.... wep was gone...
what the reason is for these "special effects", dunno, i just can imagine
a bit but i think a professional answer for these special cases only zombie
and co. can give (except and besides packet-loss)...
my opinion is, weps and pus need "a bit space" to be "correct" tossed.
best to explain that is again the pb-shrine-map with its pu/wep-"eating"-
stairs.

when you have no time and are under pressure, you did not look anymore
if you aim 100% correct and toss in the 100% correct position/angle.
if you only aim 1 or 2 pixels (ok, ) tooo much to the right/left/up/down
-> stairs say "thank you these things tasted well"...
