Patch180 video and text guide

Post by bananaface » Sat Mar 07, 2015 12:07 pm

Hello and welcome to my patch 180 guide.
Since there have been several requests for something like this and several questions on what I do to survive and also score high I decided to make this guide for you.
I'll be breaking down this guides written part into 4 sections; Powerups, weapons, RPG and monsters.
Keep in mind, this is how I prefer to do things and it suits my playstyle, by no means does this work for everyone but I hope it can help atleast.
Also this is subject to change as things might change on the server.

Powerups:
This I'm gonna break down into 4 parts; Primary, Secondary, Fillers and weapon specific powerups.
Primary:
- Infinity
- (Iron) Sturdy
- Heal (if the weapon deals splash damage so you don't kill yourself)
- Force5/Superforce (if the weapon is affected by it)
- Protection 5
- Damage 5
- Instagib Shield
- Rock Shield
- Reflection Shield
- Speed5/Superspeed

Secondary:
- Vorpal
- Single Damage
- Lucky
- Energy 5
- Propulsion (on any gun that isn't affected by force5/superforce)

Filler:
- Poison 5
- Retaliation 5
- Shield regen
- Health regen
- Vampiric

Weapon Specific:
- Bio: double spread
- Link: double spread
- Flak: blast cannon
- RL: flare/double rocket spread (flare for long range, spread for short range)
I don't ever use a SR cause it's crap nor do I use a minigun for the same reason + it has no PU's at this moment.

Weapons:
It can be a bit map depending what I prefer for instance I rather have a Particle Cannon in close quarters or Shotty then a Lilly but on longe range I prefer the Lilly.
Same with RL and Flak, I prefer double spread RL at close range more and the Blast Cannon Flak at long range.
In general you'll see me using weapons with splash damage more often then those wihout this is due to my playstyle where I stay mobile at all times in the air so it's easier to land hits with splash damage.

Prefered regular weapons in order:
- Flak
- RL
- MP5/Submachinegun
- Bio
- Link

Prefered special weapons in order:
- Lil Lady
- Particle Cannon
- Combat Shotgun

RPG:
There are a few basic things that I consider as "must have" things to spend your points on and are cheap and easy accesible.
NRA: prevents you from having your weapon taken by Obama.
Denial: allows you to respawn with the weapon you're holding upon death.
Awareness: makes it easier to see and identify where monsters are.

Vampirism:
Vampirism is my bread and butter for survivability, it allows me to heal myself from dealing damage so I can stay in combat almost indefinetly as long as I'm occasionally shooting monsters that you can Vamp from.
Only 1 rank of Vampirism is required and is not beneficial to buy more at this stage.

Extra Jumps:
Nothing is worse then not being able to get over a bunker or wall or shield or terrain, so I buy 2 ranks of this ability.

Weaponspeed:
Weaponspeed is the best stat by far, it gives the highest damage boost and it gives you the most sustain through Vampirism aswell so I cap this stat before i purchase anything else.

Field Medic and Resurrect:
After capping my weaponspeed my goal is to get these 2 amazing abilities.
Field Medic requires 100 DR and HB, Resurrect requires 100 DR and 200 HB.
Field Medic will help you in early game where you do not have a loaded WoP with inf yet, it is recommended to use it on a gun like the MP5 if you do not plan on using it as your main weapon.
Resurrect gives you a second life wich is to important to pass up. I recommend getting atleast 2 ranks of this ability but leave the 3rd rank for later when you have a higher healthpool.

Upgrade kit gold-wrench:
At this stage I ussually buy the gold wrench, it just isn't something that helps you but it also helps your team.

Capping your stats:
After all of the above my goal is to cap the important stats.
Damage Bonus: Dealing more damage is more healing from Vampirism and killing threats faster.
Damage Reduction: Reduce the damage you take.
Health Bonus: Allows you to soak more damage.
I tend to go for a balanced approach in spending my statpoints in these passives so that means I'll reach 500 of each at about the same time.

Resurrect rank3:
Buy this when your stats are capped.

Team Vamping:
Will help you to sustain yourself better with splash damage weapons or if no monsters are around you can shoot a teammember to heal yourself.

Upgrade kit purple-wrench:

Vampirism rank2-10:
At this stage I cap my vampirism.

Quick Foot:
More movement speed means being able to dodge projectiles or outrun monsters better.

Monsters:
Here are some noteable monsters or guns on monsters that you have to worry about the most.
I find it best to neutralise these monsters asap before they overrun you and kill you and your team.
- Blue Lucifer: at all times stay away from anything that might trigger the explosion of the deemer (walls, ceilings, floor etc) so that when it does explode you are not caught in the explosion and never stay in the same place longer then a few moments.
- Boss Lucifer: keep moving and dodging his fireballs and you'll be fine.
- Hitler: empowers his fellow nazi soldiers so kill him asap.
- Darth Vader: make sure he does not get in melee range of you, if yo can not outrun him then jump in the air to avoid his lightsaber attack wich instagibs you.
- Sawyer: same story as Darth Vader.
- Titans: dodge the rocks and make sure they don't stomp on your head.
- Wand: keep moving and keep your distance, the further away you are the less likely you are hit.
- Laser: same as wand.
- Spider mines: keep jumping or outrunning them since the gun has limited fire range, keep shooting at the ground if you have a splash damage weapon so you destroy the mines with it.
- Chainsaw: essentially the same as Vader and Sawyer but does not instagib you but still does considerable damage.
- Nukes: destroy them at all cost or kill the monster that threw it.

FYI if you use 3 single sturdies and put them on another weapon of power, it has the same effect as the iron but you can use that slot for something else. I find using the propulsion only sends things flying away from you including the power ups and artifacts. I don't think I ever use the retaliation power up. I also don't bother with speed and pick a random spot and just kill from that location. I still get a pretty high score. 2 infinity power ups for twice the weapon speed. The shield and health regen I put on the same wop as the sturdies. I've also just used an MP5 -1 and was just shy of 10k. Just some more food for thought if you want to try out some other points of view.

Different players have different playstyles and that's perfectly fine.
This guide was to show what I do since people requested on several occasions to shed some light on what I do.
Just like to note though by sitting in one spot you'll never be able to score as rediculously high as I do but not everyone wants that anyway so that is fine.

The almost 10k score was with a MP5-1 and I stood still. The idea behind it is to let others get some kills so they can gain some exp. as well which will keep people wanting to play. If the higher levels people would not kill anything for the first few waves that would allow the new players to gain some exp. and improves their morale. The other thing I do is offer an infinity power up before loading a second one and that's because I'm not greedy. Do I need to go and get 20k on every map, the answer is no. I don't bother with a flak cause it's gotten very boring and does not provide a challenge. I'll even give a combat shotty of reju away. I also don't use the wand and will give that away first chance I get. I also spend more time explaining things to people on the map; example "use the purple kit before using the gold kit, MP +4 would become an MP+5 and then golded would have 1 more slot then an MP+4 golded and then purpled to a +5".

And how is this related to the guide?

Did you read the whole thing or just half ass it? If you actually read it there was a couple of parts that was related to the guide.

10k with any MP5 is really hard...not.
There is plenty of people who let lowbies get kills in early waves and yes that includes me, but do I always do it? No. Do I have to do it? No.
There is plenty of people who share their inf powerups before loading a second.
I never use a wand either unless I join really lategame and don't bother with powerups and just medic it.
I'm sure I've spend more time explaining things then you even if there were 10 of you.
General information about the patch have been posted and mentioned in other threads and this thread was not intended for it.

So there was exactly 0 related to my guide in your post and all I see is you trying to make yourself look like your a saint.
Your helpfull yes but that doesn't mean you can go and throw mud at those who occasionally want to go and score high nor does that mean that those people aren't helpfull.

So keep this on topic in this thread and discuss other things in another or make another if there isn't one for it.

Please don't make Baron or I have to delete posts, or lock this thread Gentlemen.

I shouldn't have to state there are different types of play styles, and then on top of that variations to each play style. People will agree, and disagree over this topic and are free to have there own opinions on them. However I feel if you have a strong disagreement on something making your own thread or guide would be the best action to be most helpful. This would leave each guide open for questions pertaining to whatever is entailed in it for newer, or less experienced players.

Baron and I are very grateful for what both of you do around this community. Let's not let differences in opinion get the better of us.

Thank You,
