Paintball wrote: Holy Crap! My god you put a lot of time into this. I really really appreciate it IIO. The PSU I chose was the Corsair 850W with a 70amp rail for the video cards. I am defenitly doling out enough power there. I chose the Core i7 because of the new socket 1366. Since this is the new and best everything else is now antiquated so investing in anything but a socket 1366 would be a waste of money. The SSD have gotten rave reviews except the only thing I am upset about is the price. For the price I still like the 1333mhz ram and because of its low latency. Unless I can find a cas 7 latency DDR3 1600 for cheap I'll have to stick with my current selection. Also I picked the case I did because thats the one I picked out for my cousin and it looks and works AWESOME!!. It was so easy to build with and though the antec 900's and others look cool I don't like how cramped they look. I am extremely worried since my video card is 10.5". Thanks again for all the help and suggestions guys but until prices get lower and what not I am going to have to stick to what I got.
Ah, video cards, then SLI ? Or one extra vid (nvidia), for physix ?
Consumption:
I7 920 2,66 Ghz max, on full load: 130W
single nvidia gtx 260 (not 216sp):
2D full:38,7W
3D full:191.2W
3 ddr3 ram modules: max 9W (but i think less)
Hard disk: 10W average, for one traditional, and i think 2W for SSD lol
Dont know the consumption of x58 chipset, but consider max consumption of chipset nvidia for intel core2 quad: 60W.

Total, at full load and and assuming the maximum consumption for a chipset for a current quad-->nvidia chipset, with single nvidia gtx 260:
410W

Yeah :D To see if outdoing you is going to be in the same price range... can I ask how much did you payed for your computer?? I built this puppy with future proofing in mind. I want it to run until its about as useful as my Pentium 3 from 1998 that is barely loading youtube videos. I would figure atleast 5-10 years...or more
I put almost $3,500 into mine when I built mine 2 yrs. ago and that includes the monitor. At that time it was all the top of the line stuff.

The MSI SLI board was my original before I changed to the Asus. The reason I changed was there were conflicting reviews saying that the board wasn't alloing SLI but was only allowing crossfire. I also remember reading that on a website which had info on the board too. Another reason I chose the Asus and not the MSI one was because the PNY ram that I chose had a review saying they were using it in an Asus P6T so I know the ram is compatible.
The board is named "SLI", there is a SLI certified sticker on the board, but it only does crossfire. There was a SLI sticker on the outside of the box, but it appears that it has been torn off. Some forums mentioned there was a bios update that turned the SLI feature of these boards off.
That's an example post saying SLI doesn't work on the MSI board.

and then you have the conflicting ones
(I am running an X-FI titanium through the top PCI-E x1 slot, along with 2 8800GTXs in SLI) BIG VIDEO CARDS DON'T BUMP INTO OR KEEP ANYTHING FROM BEING CONNECTED.

The reason I have a 850W power supply IIO is so in the future when I need to update my video card I have enough Juice to support it. I didn't want to get parts that will work fine for today. I built this with the future in mind.

I could invest in the ASUS but there are so many reviews swearing by the Acer that how can it be bad? My cousin has a 19" Acer that he bought with his computer this october and it works great and the picture is awesome. I think it is this one:

Its 5ms just like the Acer I am looking at. I just have yet to see a difference especially since my cousin hasn't reported any ghosting at all.

question: are you going to do SLI? Why if it is not so with the 550W go on for years.
The cards will consume no more future than at present, are now 55nm, ATI in a few days comes with the first 40nm, and will also nvidia, and have more power, consuming more or less the same wattage of existing ones.
If u want make a SLi 650W it's better.

Watch here the total consumption of a system i7 with: single, SLI, and quad SLI.
