That's strange, for your issue, I suggest you change a HDD connected to the motherboard with a different SATA port and cable then install Win8 again for a test.
IF the problem still remains, this looks like a single board problem which I do suggest you RMA to solve it.

getting this Error Code: 0x0000005 trying to install windows 8.1 thanks

At school, they had 2 versions of win8 to download. One of them gave that code. I won't be able to get the other version info till Monday when I get back into class and see what it's called.
