My ideas for Commander ability in 180 or 181

Have a Commander Menu: Default Key = C
This is where players can go to vote, or if they become commander this is where they can call in supply/vehicle drops, artillery barrages, etc.
Voting system like BF2, and the higher ranks have better chance of being commander.

You need at least level 1 in RPG ability to be able vote or become commander.
Level 1 = Supply Drops
Level 2 = Vehicle Drops
Level 3 = Artillery Barrages
Level 4 = Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow - ONE use per game, and it obliterates all monsters on the map. Disabled on last wave, maybe monsters jam communications?

Level 5 = Nuclear Strike (edit so this one doesn't harm friendlies.)

If you are wondering what broken arrow is:
a distress signal used in the US military to call in all available close air support aircraft to deliver air strikes in an area where US and allied forces are (or are in danger of) being overrun by the enemy. It was primarily used in the Vietnam War.

If you ever watched the movie "We Were Soldiers", you will know what Broken Arrow is.

But just last night we ran into a situation were we needed an ability like that.

what about that in ut2k4 existing "warning, incoming airstrike"? replacing that powerless deemers with
1/3 or half power of the nuke would help for sure...

nice ideas, anyways one problem, how do these things work in closed areas?
(houses, rooms, no open field i mean...)

Mobster, i like it, dont see why we cant do it. It would not be hard for me to do. UT already has the vote scripting/ code example (map voting). I could reuse the menu too. Could display at top left screen under the text i created that displays players alive/dead, wave number. It would look something like this...

Commander: None on Duty, press "V" to vote.

When players press "V" a small GUI menu appears with list of players and you vote, like we do for maps.
After 60 or 120 sec, a player wins vote that has the highest RPG or new officer rank. Ranks does have its priveledges.

After vote, In game would then display...
Commander: UTMobster

If commander doesnt do their job, players can press "v" to vote and kick commander.

Game play.... I could give the commander the same abilities as BF2 and more. Unlimited potential of what we can do.

Amy, the airstrike bomber checks for sky on maps. I can override that function if needed. Drop from ceiling lol
Flak of Power +10 [Powerups: 3 Sturdy, 2 infs, 1 Healing, 1 Vorpal, 1 Lucky, 1 Poison 5x, 1 Protection 5x, 1 Retaliation x5, 1 Retention, 1 Super Force, 2 Speed 5x, 2 Damage 5x, 2 Energy 5x, 1 Penetrating, 1 Razorbomb]

before you use the (buggy?) vote-menu, check following:
join server, (play or spec doesnt matter) open console, type "showlog" (i have 2 monitors...easier,
play on left monitor,check on right monitor...), then open vote-menu.
the logfile will now be overflooded with errors cause you just joined and mapdownloads still not
finished. dunno if that cause really trouble, but for me it needs sometimes 3 minutes till i can open the
votemenu, these 3 minutes will be like 1mb errorsmessage in the logfile (clientsided...)

I actually thought of this after I posted the topic. Maybe have a Gold Star above the player in game too.

Give them a big boost in damage too, cause they are super weak.

Might as well have this as one too:

Mobster, i like that idea, gold star to signify/define commander.

Amy, i wouldnt use epic's buggy map vote menu. The commander vote i make is simple and is instant.
All Player names already there in game, press F1 and see. Zero load time.
Map voting is different, takes a long time to load because it parses through all the maps on server and populates indexed maplist.
