Hey Guys,
Since I work in a entry level job it is not easy for me to pay for the server every month and if possible it would be very much appreciated to have some help doing that. I can't promise anything in return except for my appreciation. I set up a poll of different amounts. I'd imagine a fair number might be about $5 a month. I know $5 might sound steep, but in comparison to XBOX live which is $50 a year, and WoW costs $15 a month, $5 a month isn't bad. Also, you have to take into account that there are people like gibletboy with 11,859 hours played on the server. That's 2964 days of gaming @ 4 hours per day. That works out to be about 120 hours per month of gameplay. Where else can you get 120 hours of entertainment for $5?
We have relied on donations for years, but never asked for them. Consequently joey is in the hole $10k, but unlike him I don't make the kind of money he did to be able to endure that kind of financial loss. Please let me know your thoughts.
Just to be clear, I'm just trying to feel this out and see what people are willing to donate.

You've been donating for years, with your time and helpfulness. I couldn't possibly ask for anything moreAmy Infless wrote:how to pay from europe? in that case im totally noob and not really having a clue about online banking,

The waiving level recovery thing is a good idea. It's funny though, the people who said yes they'd donate monthly haven't anyway. I'll look into more funding ideas when UT4 comes out.Treloar wrote:If the NBN ever gets to me and Internet connection is good enough I may host a server from home.
As far as donating to a server the most I ever donated was like $20, but admittedly not to yours yet...
I don't think people would pay monthly, I think it would be a yearly thing to ask... try explaining how much it costs to run the server and ask for an amount that is "cost of server per year" divided by "number of players who play the server" = donation amount
See who will come to the party.
What benefits does a donator get?
For other server's it's been all kinds of things, such as access to a locked server, or a clan tag, et cetera... I noticed people have to pay $10 for level recovery, you could possibly ask people to donate $10/year and get the cost of level recovery waived perhaps...
