question: are you going to do SLI? Why if it is not so with the 550W go on for years.
The cards will consume no more future than at present, are now 55nm, ATI in a few days comes with the first 40nm, and will also nvidia, and have more power, consuming more or less the same wattage of existing ones.
If u want make a SLi 650W it's better.

Watch here the total consumption of a system i7 with: single, SLI, and quad SLI.

Yeah I plan on running SLI. If the GTX 295's ever get low in price to $200 then ill do quad SLI.

I just looked at that link and it said GTX 295 in Quad SLI would take 735W. That would mean I would have 115W left over for the rest of my system. This link:

says that the Core i7 920 under load takes 196W so if anything I need a bigger PSU. But like you said with the Dies shrinking to 32nm soon and lower power consumption should be lower so I don't think I'll need a bigger PSU.

:x quad SLI,... BRUTAL!!! :D.
The only game of the past, and the present and the future, that used a similar power (and it is much the same) it's crysis ;)

or in the future u can buy 2 ipotetic GTX 300 series, for normal SLI
For other games with quad SLI u can play at min 60 fps to 150-200 and over eheheh

I think it is appropriate to take one card that give the right power for current games, and maybe change it every year with the same criterion.
Spending, over time, is the same (compared to a quad of gtx295), but more rational and more durable.
Among the other with a 22 " Quad SLI is a totally wasted, as well as for games that i repeat for the most part are just ported from the console.

here's some information (guru3d) for the quad:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-g ... view-bfg/5
Sidenote: however, we recently upgraded our test-platform, which by itself utilizes a lot of energy.

It's Core i7 965 / X58 based and overclocked to 3.7 GHz. Next to that we have energy saving functions disabled for this motherboard and processor (to ensure consistent benchmark results).
Keep that in mind. Our normal system power consumption is much higher than your average system.
Recommended Power Supply

So here's my power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 295

* A GeForce GTX 295 requires you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit at minimum if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 50 Amps available on the 12 volts rails.

GeForce GTX 295 Quad SLI

* A second GeForce GTX 295 requires you to add another 300 Watts. You need a 1000 Watt power supply unit if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 70 Amps available on the 12 volts rails.
However, my thoughts remain the same, spend the right now, and save the rest for the future that will be better, and always with excellent performance rather than ;)

It is pointless to buy a car that goes 250 Miles per hour, when all the roads that you find every day, are not made for that speed. :P See when the car is having trouble doing the usual roads, which first went well, the sell and buy another :D

Ordered:

CPU paste, PSU, DVD RW Drive, 1TB Harddrive.

Need to save up $650 because I need to buy the Mobo, CPU, and RAM all at the same time because they need each other to make sure everything is working correctly.

Don't skimp on the cooling. Stock cooling is not efficient ... especially in summer with the higher ambient temps.

That is very true.......make sure and get a good HSF and a decent case that provides good ventilation for air exchange.

Okay Im just about to order:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductRe ... 6835185093

Has great reviews and is the right price. With this if I want to overclock it is now an option. Thanks for the tips you guys, I probably would have gone with the stock cooler if you hadn't spoken up! My computers life span thanks you (rock)

But before I buy just yet...what do you guys think of the fan?

There should be more than enough room in there so I ordered it. Some guy who reviewed it said he used it in a antec 900 and my case is much bigger than that.
